New Karino Interchange to ease traffic flow

TRAC N4 has announced the construction of the Karino Interchange in Mbombela. The R390-million project commenced in June 2019 and will see the existing intersection transformed into a grade separated interchange.

The section of the N4 Toll Route has become synonymous with daily peak-hour traffic delays at the KMIA/Plaston Road/N4 interesection, following a notable growth of residential areas such as Kanyamazane and Karino. The interchange will improve traffic flow onto and off the N4 Toll Route and enhance safety, as it will eliminate the need for pointsmen who currently manage the morning and afternoon traffic.

Roadworks will spread over 4kms and the project is expected to take just over two years to complete. Traffic deviations of one lane free flow will be implemented throughout construction, which may result in slower moving traffic.

Meanwhile, TRAC N4 announced the completion of the Matola – Maputo upgrade as well as the Schoemanskloof road works.
