Work placement opportunity needed for students

Tshwane University of Technology (Mbombela Campus) has 60 final year Tourism Management under-graduate students who are seeking a six-month (1000 hours) work placement opportunity in the tourism, travel or accommodation sector for 2017, commencing in July/August and completing in December/January.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is a compulsory component of their qualification – the National Diploma in Tourism Management.  This is a broad-based programme designed to introduce students to the diversity of the tourism industry. Throughout the course the students have been introduced to management and marketing principles, destination awareness, responsible tourism and events / project management, to name a few, plus a range of industry-recognised qualifications including Galileo, OPERA, SUMMIT, QuickTrav, Fares within Africa and Travel Agency Operations etc.

The aim of WIL is for the students to obtain as much exposure to different aspects of a tourism business / organisation as possible.  Students who have been afforded a work experience opportunity ultimately become more employable upon graduation.

If you are in a position to offer a placement(s) and would like more information, please contact Berni Valentin by e-mail valentinb@tut.ac.za or phone 083 441 1392.
