No more ‘swiping’ of cards on TRAC toll gates

From 1 December 2024, selected toll plazas across SA will move from magstripe payments to more secure, contactless payments. This means that swiping of the magnetic strip on the back of the debit / credit card to make payment, will no longer be accepted. Areas impacted from 1 December are the N4 toll route from Johannesburg to Durban, the N4 route from Pretoria to Komatipoort, as well as Chapman’s Peak and surrounding areas.
