Assist KLCBT to get statistics on lagging court cases

During several meetings on various safety and security aspects, it has come to our attention that we really seem to have a big problem with the courts that do not finish hearing cases.  Accused people get out on bail and appear up to 10 times with unnecessary            postponements like docket not at the court, or case is too new it has to be postponed…  The same people get arrested numerous times for the same crimes as well.  If we are serious to stop the terrible increase in crime, including illegal mining and robberies, we have to get this system right.  It sends a bad message if the courts eventually throw a case out and we even see witnesses now becoming criminals themselves, because they see people get away with it.  We need your help to take up this issue.  If you are aware of any such cases, please send us the case number, the charge, the court, the dates it appeared so far and what the reason was for postponement.  We do not need personal details of the accused.  Please send this to linda@klcbt.co.za before end of next week.
