The thrill of tiger fishing in Komatiooort…The small town is a well-known destination for tiger fishing on the Komati River. A variety of fresh water specie thrive in the river’s vast waters but the tiger fish can easily be given supreme game fish status.
Named tiger fish for their fighting prowess when caught, predaceous habits and appearance, catching one of these guys is definitely a thrill! Growing up to 4kg in South Africa, anything larger is considered a prize. Tiger fish grow very slowly and can take up to 14 years to reach maturity therefore ‘catch and release’ is practiced so as not to kill off the species.
Best caught from a boat, tiger fishing is an amazing experience that is not for the impatient and is best enjoyed with family and friends on an afternoon of fun.
