The Trophy is the Least Valuable Thing you Win

A buyer comparing three quotes on a Tuesday morning can’t audit your     processes, check your delivery record or meet your team.  They look for     signals—and an independently judged award is one of the strongest going, because the body behind it has its own reputation to protect.  Carry its name and you carry the trust it spent years building.

In a 2026 double-blind study of 1520 consumers and decision-makers, people shown an award credential were 2.8 times more likely to trust the business, and 38% said they’d pay a premium!

What that borrowed credibility buys you:

· More enquiries (bookings) without more ad spend.  The credential does the persuading before you pick up the phone.

· Trust before the first meeting.  You walk in already vetted.

· A fair fight against bigger firms (or bigger tour operators).  Judges    assess quality, not marketing budget—a team of four can beat a       national!  A six-room guesthouse can beat a big group!

· A reason to make the shortlist.  Procurement teams, partners and press need one, and they start with winners. Tour operators, travel media and OTAs also need a shortlist, and they start with winners!

But most of the value arrives before the results do.  Writing an entry forces the questions you’ve been avoiding.  What’s our client retention rate? What do our clients actually say?  What did we fix this year?  Few owners have put those answers on one page.

Start a folder this week: client quotes, one proper case study, your numbers.  Come entry season, it writes itself.
