Scenic Routes- Vaalhoek Road
Travel from Bourke’s Luck Potholes to Pilgrims Rest on one of the most scenic gravel routes in the region. The start of the Vaalhoek Road is just opposite the entrance to the Potholes. Bourke’s Luck Potholes is a popular tourist attraction situated on the Panorama Route.
Steeped in history, this road also follows the Belvedere powerline. Electricity was supplied via the Belvedere powerline to Pilgrims Rest and surrounding communities from 1911 to 1992, from a hydro-electric power station. The road also follows the course of the Blyde River and ends at the historical town of Pilgrims Rest, which is a treat to explore after the spectacular drive.
