Save your IMEI

Ok….what’s that?  The International Mobile Equipment Identity number is a unique 15-digit code assigned to every mobile phone or device, making it a critical tool for identification and security.

If a device is stolen, having your IMEI recorded can:

Speed up police reporting and improve tracking efforts, help to blacklist the device across all major networks, help streamline insurance claims by  providing clear proof of ownership and device identification, reduce the resale value of stolen phones making theft less attractive

Where to find your IMEI number:

Dial *06* on your phone—the IMEI will instantly appear on your screen;  check your phone’s settings (usually under ‘About Phone’), Look on the original packaging or your purchase receipt.

Store it somewhere safe:

OK so don’t store it on your phone…  Store it in a secure cloud vault, or written down and stored with your important documents; or saved in your insurer’s app or policy records (if applicable).
