This little forestry town has become a favorite tourist destination as it offers a variety of experiences for all travelers. What started as a forestry town led to it becoming a family friendly tourism hotspot with a variety of outdoor activities on offer.

Mountain biking

The host town of the challenging Sabie Classic, this town offers various trails that traverse over indigenous forests, plantations and streams. The panoramic views are simply breathtaking. The trails are idelas for all mountain bikers with flat terrain options for those wanting to take it easy and more technical routes for those seeking a challenge. Day permits are available from Merry Pebbles Resort or the SAFCOL Forest Industry Museum.

Water activities

The mighty Sabie River is home to a variety of water activities such as river rafting, canoeing, abseiling and tubing. Flowing free and unpolluted, this river is a hive of activity in the hot summer months.

Hiking

Experience the outdoors in the most beautiful landscapes in Sabie. This little forestry town is home to numerous hiking trails such as the multiday Fanie Botha Hiking Trail. As one walks along the pine plantations and indigenous forests one cannot help but stand in awe at the sheer beauty of the various crystal-clear waterfalls and varied landscapes. It is clear why so many hikers describe this as the perfect hiking destination. There are also various day trails that range from easy to challenging.

Fishing

One cannot visit Sabie and not try out fly-fishing. With a natural breeding population of rainbow and brown trout, the Sabie River and its tributaries above the Sabie waterfall present the best fly-fishing waters. Various establishments offer day visitors the opportunity to try their luck.
