Prominent Kruger Lowveld representation at Vakantiebeurs Travel Show – Holland
Kruger Lowveld was again represented at the Vakantiebeurs Travel Show which was held in Utrecht, Netherlands, between 10 and 15 January 2017.
The final numbers of visitors was not yet available, but last year close to 120000 people visited the show and the organisers were expecting a similar number this year.
Vakantiebeurs is primarily a consumer travel show aimed at the Netherlands public, with tourism product from six continents represented and marketing their destinations. One entire hall was dedicated to African product, with South Africa having the greatest representation. Other than a low-key presence by Eastern Cape Tourism, Kruger Lowveld Tourism was the only regional tourism organisation from South Africa.
We noticed significant interest in South Africa as a destination from the Dutch market and Kruger Lowveld was on the bucket list of a large proportion of these people. Many of the people we spoke to had visited South Africa, or had already booked flights for the coming season, but were looking for something new and interesting to do.
For the first time at the show, SA Tourism had a significant presence and gave us the opportunity to give daily public presentations on the region. Kruger Lowveld’s presentations were well received with around 50+ people attending each one.
In all we must have met with and spoken to close to 20 travel agents / tour operators and over 1000 potential visitor families at the show.
