Mpumalanga Tourism Think Tank re-established
The long-awaited sitting of the Mpumalanga Tourism Think tank, finally commenced yesterday. The last meeting took place in January 2021. This is one of the first big-hitting items the new interim board at Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency has established. The meeting comprise of  several government entities and regional tourism organisations’ leadership. The meeting kicked off with listing of issues that should be dealt with by the collective—and of course the list is very long. The meeting agreed to    section the issues in four categories for ease of discussion: Infrastructure; Marketing, Research and Product Development; Safety and Security;   Governance, Planning, Commercialization and Stakeholder Relationships. The first discussion was around Infrastructure and intensive discussions commenced around Air access, NPTR permit delays, the Lobombo Border congestion, Kruger Gate access congestion, road signage, connectivity, and of course the decay of the public sector managed attractions. For ease of research and implementation, it was further broken in to task teams of two members per task to carry out work within two weeks. The meeting will continue today to dissect the remaining three focus areas. Well done to all!
