Mpum Dept of Health issues Malaria warning

After the recent floods, Malaria risk is high, standing water from floods     creates a breeding ground for malaria mosquitoes.

WATCH FOR SYMPTOMS:

Symptoms usually appear 7-21 days after a mosquito bite:

Fever and chills, nausea and vomiting, headache, muscle and joint pain.

Feeling sick?  GET TESTED IMMEDIATELY

PREVENTION:

Wear long sleeved clothing and shoes in the evening from sunset.  Use  registered insect repellent, eliminate breeding sites like standing water, spray the area using insecticide, particularly the bedroom before going to bed, use mosquito coils or vaporizing mats.

Visit your nearest health facility for testing, diagnosis and treatment.
