Minister of Finance calls for Budget Tips

The Minister of Finance has officially opened the floor for ‘Budget Tips’ ahead of the National Budget Speech.  This is your direct line to the National Treasury.

Right now, South Africa’s finances are at a crossroads.  To put things in perspective:

Debt Repayment—our government is projected to spend R434,9 Bn this year just on interest, more than we spend on our entire health system.

The Deficit—they are still spending roughly R370 Bn more than tax revenue

Infrastructure—While energy is stabilising, water infrastructure requires R1 trillion investment over the next few years.

The Minister wants your tips on:

How to stabilize SOEs like Eskom and Transnet

Where to cut government spending

How to fix municipal finance failures

What to do about the tax burden on households

A budget shouldn’t just be something that happens to us—it should be shaped by us.  Dear South Africa provided a simplified template to          encourage participation.  Your impactful comments will take you less than three minutes to complete.  The link is below the newsletter and on the   website.  Don’t let the 2026 budget be decided in a vacuum.
