MEC of Economic Development announces plans for Tourism in Mpumalanga

During a meeting yesterday, the newly appointed MEC Jesta Sidell, shared her department’s commitment to restore tourism in Mpumalanga.  She  announced several events taking place during tourism month, including the Tourism Expo at Riverside to be held 26—28 September. Please book!

Following the complaints and subsequent report regarding the poor state of the public attractions on the Panorama Route, she announced a day of cleaning and restoration for the sites of Bourke’s Luck Potholes and Three Rondawels on Heritage Day, 24th September.  She invited all in            government and private sector to join the campaign for the day.

She further announced the appointment of an interim board for MTPA   under the chairmanship of Mr Fish Mahlalela, who served as deputy      minister of Tourism until his retirement.  He is a passionate lobbyist for         Mpumalanga.  We are hoping the formation of the Think Tank will be first on the agenda.  Ringfencing of funds for upkeep of sites, and development opportunities were also some key issues discussed during her earlier           engagement with KLCBT. We believe these matters will be made priority.
