Profile
Sawubona, welcome to Mdluli Safari Lodge
*That’s Siswati for ‘hello’
Truly unique, truly magical, truly Mdluli.
Mdluli Safari Lodge is the story of one man’s vision for the land, and for the Mdluli people. Today this land is significant for many reasons.
We invite you to be part of our story – a tale of the wonder and beauty of the Kruger National Park, the authentic charm of Siswati tradition, and a deep-rooted commitment to conservation.
The lodge is located inside the south-western region of the Kruger National Park, a 5 hour drive from Gauteng and accessible via a private road from Numbi Gate – the closest gate from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.
A luxurious tented experience.
Relax in your luxurious tent. Savour meals around the open flames of the boma fire. Spot wildlife from the swimming pool, deck, restaurant, and bar. Enjoy Big Five game drives and walks with experienced guides.
Feel good, and leave something good behind
Mdluli Safari Lodge is a sustainable tourism initiative, and a proud partnership with the local Mdluli Community, who receive direct and indirect socio-economic benefits.
Welcome to the tranquility of your luxurious tent.
With oversized patios and views into the Park, your elevated tent & private patio is both spacious and indulgent, with all the amenities you’ll need for your stay with us. There is no better place for relaxation in the African bush.
Each of the custom-designed tents have en-suite bathrooms, and can comfortably sleep a family of four.
The use of canvas and natural timber materials gives each tent a true safari feel. The interior palette takes inspiration from the tones and textures found in the surrounding natural environment.
The ambience of the tents and main areas is created through a carefully curated fusion of raw timbers and canvas textures with the authentic charm of Siswati tradition. Each area of the lodge is designed to create a feeling of being connected to nature, whether indoors or outdoors. The deck, restaurant, boma and oversized infinity swimming pool are cleverly positioned through their open architecture and proximity to the lodge’s fence line to allow guests to find their quiet space while a herd of elephant or buffalo amble past to the river that lies adjacent to the fence line.
The lodge is fully fenced, monitored 24/7 through an external control centre.

Game Drives
& Safari Walks
Whether you prefer to venture into the Park on a self-drive option, an accompanied Big Five bush walk, or to embrace its beauty from the comfort of a raised game viewing vehicle, Mdluli Safari Lodge offers you an experience unlike any other.
Guided bush walks are an incredible way to immerse yourself into the wild and to experience the bush in the most up close and personal way. Feel free to engage with our experienced guides, they are sure to keep you entertained with exceptional knowledge on the Kruger National Park as well as stories about their past experiences, all whilst tracking magnificent animals on foot. Please note: Bush walks need to be booked through our reservations team in advance.
Muffins, rusks and warm drinks are offered in the restaurant before the early morning game activity. A game drive is not complete without taking time to slow down and celebrate the environment you’re in with a coffee in the morning or a sundowner in the evening.

Something that is quite unique to the location of Mdluli Safari Lodge is our exquisite granite rock formation that is located within our perimeters. Take a walk up to the elevated viewpoint and enjoy a complete 360 panoramic view of the magnificent Kruger National Park. This is the perfect spot to take in the beauty of the landscape.
