Let’s talk “Water”

Water as a natural resource is under severe pressure in Mbombela – Nelspruit. Let’s compare some statistics:

The average water usage per person per day is

South Africa = 238 litre

Mpumalanga = 205 litre

World = 183 litre

Cape Town showed it was possible to use 50 litre

The main culprits are:

35% is used on gardens

29% is flushed down the toilet

20% is used for bath / shower / laundry

TIP: Laundry / bath / shower water can safely be used to water gardens and can bring about a large saving and a green garden.

SAD FACT: Rural areas have access to water twice a week and many rural households will have less than 50 litre per day.
