Scam Alerts

TENDER SCAM

Scammers impersonate government departments and access company data, banking details, goods and services. They tell businesses that they’ve secured a tender / contract. If you receive a request to quote or to tender, contact the relevant government department (using contact details you have sourced yourself) to validate the request.

CHANGE OF BANK DETAILS

Cyber criminals imitate key employees and request payments or confidential information. Check the sender’s email address, watch out for spelling errors and beware of urgent money transfer requests.  Always check any request for Change of Banking Details with a known contact person and use the Verify Account Owner tab on your bank to ensure the name matches with the account number provided.

EFT PROOF OF PAYMENT FRAUD

Fraudsters send you fraudulent deposit slips or proof of payment. The aim is to receive goods or      services without paying for it, or to request an urgent ‘refund’. Always check your bank account or    contact your bank to validate the deposit before releasing goods.
