KLCBT welcomes new President at AGM

KLCBT hosted their Annual General Meeting of members yesterday at   Mbombela Sun.  The meeting started with the announcement of KLCBT’s new President Elect.  In accordance with the amendments to the constitution (MOI development in process), the president is elected mid-term—a year after the election of the board.  As the board was elected and confirmed last year this time, it became time for the president to be elected.  This allows for a new board to get to know each other before they take the important step to elect a president from their numbers.

Well known Lowveld business personality, Pottie Potgieter is starting his two year term today, following in the footsteps of outgoing president, Prof David Mabunda. 

KLCBT’s board and staff welcomes the new president and we wish Prof     Mabunda success and happiness for his future.  He is in high demand with multiple commitments across provinces and even Africa, and we wish to a  appreciate the commitment and the time he afforded to KLCBT during his term.  We have benefited immensely from his guidance, leadership and    mentorship during trying times.  He will still be making a mark on tourism and conservation in his role as permanent board member of MTPA.

Pottie shared the following message to the board and management last night:

“I’ll need your support as I step into this new role and work to fill Prof          Mabunda’s shoes.  He has left a strong legacy, and I look forward to building on that foundation together.  This is the start of a new era, one that I hope will be driven by innovation, energy, creativity, and a shared commitment to     excellence.  Let us focus on the future and work together to make the Lowveld an even better pace for our tourists, our communities, and our people.  By growing our area, creating opportunities, and driving sustainable economic growth, we can make a meaningful difference in the region we serve.  I am excited about the journey ahead and look forward to working alongside all of you to achieve great things.”
