Interesting real events this week

JOIN US FOR THE DAY IN HONOUR OF OUR MILITARY HISTORY

The next outing for Mpumalanga Heritage will be the 50th anniversary parade of the SA Irish pipes and drums.

Mpumalanga Heritage will take part in the wreath laying ceremony.

After the morning parade we are all invited to have lunch at the Lone Tree Shellhole together with members of the pipe band and the Moth’s Club.  Boerewors rolls will be on sale and a cash bar will be available. Members are also welcome to bring their own picnic lunches as with normal outings, although the request is to support the local Shellhole. The Lone Tree Shellhole is also home to a lovely collection of Moth war memorabilia and photos.

One of the highlights of the day will be the drumhead service later that afternoon which is a stirring event and a worthwhile experience.

The organizers have lined up a number of other events in Barberton for this occasion. These include special permission to enter the Barberton Club as well as the recently reopened pub at the Fountains Baths.  Parking is available at the museum.

Once again, the streets of Barberton will be filled with the thrilling sounds of the Pipes and Drums of the SA Irish.  The band has not missed this annual trip to Barberton for the rededication of their plaque at the Garden of Remembrance since their first trip in 1971 and your support for this very special 50th Anniversary Parade would be appreciated.
