Input into Ehlanzeni’s Investment Strategy
We had a discussion with the consultants responsible for drafting the Ehlanzeni Investment Strategy. Our take is that the biggest potential lies in Tourism and Agriculture. The strategy should focus on opening properties owned by government to developers, i.e. creating a Super-Panorama Route,  development of the World Heritage Site, etc. For agriculture the expropriated farms should be made   available on a       partnership basis to get them into        commercial production again. The building of a new dam or two, will also be necessary to facilitate any further development and will create a small economy on their own. Once we have packaged all these available pieces, we should host a great  investment conference to get them filled with exciting businesses. There should also be focus on          manufacturing of basic goods, doubling up as training centres for youth in all skills from production line up to management. There is no magic bullet, no large wow project that will make a dent in our massive            unemployment rate. It will be a large number of smaller developments that will succeed in successfully     stimulating our local economy.
