What to do about illegal or non-compliant off-site student houses

Latest update on this article. The City of Mbombela created their own 24 hour call centre for complaints and emergencies which should be used from now on 086 162 6623.

Our noise whatsapp line have been buzzing with      complaints about unruly student houses disturbing the peace in our residential areas.  Today, we have        restarted our campaigns to enforce compliance, using the information from our whatsapp line.  Some          interesting information you should be aware of.  If you know of a student house going up, it is not required that they ask permission from the neighbours during the      rezoning process—this has to change, but they do have to display a 24 hour call line on the outside of the     property where you can phone with complaints.  They also have to have a supervisor living on the premises.  However the City can revoke their consent if they do not comply or they are a nuisance. This is happening all the time and we are thankful for the partnership with the City in this regard.  To lodge an issue, send a whatsapp to our noise line 066 3000 991.  This is checked weekly.
