What Hans van der Merwe began in White River twenty years ago as a hobby soon developed into a thriving business. Joined by his sons, Louis, 15 years ago and subsequently Carl, the business rapidly expanded. Hans van der Merwe & Son has become widely renowned for exquisitely tasteful and finely crafted French and classical-style furniture. Their range includes reproduction Georgian and Victorian dining tables and chairs with all accessories; but they are perhaps best known for their outstanding beds – the beautiful Lit Bateau, the French Empire with matching pedestals and dressing table, and the grand Four Poster with it’s magnificient hand-turned posts and legs.
