Funding required for post-graduate students at University
The University of Mpumalanga was established in 2013 and enrolled the first cohort of 169 students in February 2014 in three programmes: Bachelor of Education (Foundation Phase Teaching), Bachelor of Agriculture in Agricultural Extension and Rural Resource Development and Diploma in ICT. This year UMP enrolled has a total of 5287 students in 2021 and have 37 programmes accredited by the Council on Higher Education.
UMP current have three faculties consisting of seven (7) schools. The Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences consist of three Schools, the School of Agricultural Sciences, School of Biology and Environmental Sciences and the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. The Faculty of Education is situated on the Siyabuswa campus and consist of the School of Foundation Phase Teaching. The Faculty of Economics, Development and Business Sciences comprise of the School of Social Sciences, School of Development Sciences and the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management
The 90% of the University of Mpumalanga undergraduate students are funded by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. This is unfortunately not available for the students who are doing their postgraduate studies such as Advanced Diploma’s, Post Graduate Diplomas and Honours degrees.
The tuition fees of these qualifications are between R 34 000.00 and R 44 000.00. This does not include meals or accommodation. These are motivated students with a drive to succeed but are due to their circumstances not able to afford the study fees and are in dire need for financial support. The students are prepared to work during their spare time, holidays and as interns to cover some of their study fees.
We established a working relation with the Study Trust (www.studytrust.org.za) to administer the funding on your behalf and provide you with the necessary documents such as disbursement of funds and Section 18 A certificate for tax and BEE purposes.
Your contribution will go a long way to assist the students to realise their dreams and potentially contribute to build highly qualified and capable labour force to the benefit of the South African economy. If you are able to assist one or more of the students or consider to provide some form of assistance now or in the future, please contact me.
