This book, Eclectic ZA Wilhelmiens, revisits, re-appraises and synthesizes into a cohesive historiography, disparate records and writings related to the period of Dutch architectural patrimony in the once independent agrarian Republics of southern Africa, namely the Republic of the Orange Free State and the South African Republic. The diaspora and residue of the presence of Dutch built environment practitioners there at that time is investigated, recorded and here illustrated, the hiatus of the Second Anglo-boer War related and assessed, and the residue illustrated and celebrated as part of a shared cultural legacy of the Netherlands and the Republic of South Africa.
