Members once again we are on the last lap of a bumpy 2018. The good this is that many of us have survived it and we thank God for that. We can all agree that times are harder now than they have ever been. We are all aware of the challenges our country has gone through. Equally we have had pockets of good things that have also happened. The economy has shown some little improvements as it was reported that we are out of the technical recession.  These improvements have to be celebrated.

As we reflect on the year that has passed and approach a new year, ponder on what we can do as a chamber to continue to make a difference in our economy and communities, I am certain that the future looks promising. My wish for this festive season is that all of our member retailers and restaurants have a successful holiday season. You can help make that wish come true by supporting each other. Instead of shopping online, consider our local businesses. Let us keep our money in our own neighbourhoods and ensure that we protect the jobs that we have created.

As I look back over these past twelve months, I know that it has been about as full a year as I can remember. In this busy time of year, I encourage you to take a few minutes to count your blessings. We all have so much to be thankful for including our Chamber, community, businesses, family and friends, to name a few. May we always be ever mindful of the spirit of caring, sharing, love and generosity of the Festive season, and do our best at all times as we seek to develop as an organisation, improve the prosperity of our businesses and grow as individuals, contributing in whatever capacity for the benefit of the province and our Ehlanzeni in particular.

On behalf of the Chamber, Committees and staff let me end by once again thanking you for your support and endorsement of our efforts, and pledge to work even more strenuously for you in the year ahead. We wish you a safe and very happy Christmas and a New Year filled with peace, joy, productivity and prosperity.
