Buscor warns passengers and employers on pending strike by bus drivers

Buscor, the bus company operator in the Ehlanzeni District (Lowveld) in Mpumalanga is warning passengers and employers that they face “significant disruption” due to the pending strike by bus drivers throughout the country, including Buscor bus drivers.

The parties to the South African Road Passenger Bargaining Council (SARPBAC) are currently continuing with salary negotiation to avert the strike, failure to reach a wage agreement will lead to a full blown strike that should start on the 11 of April 2017 (Midnight) as the certificate to strike has been issued.

It is important to note that the current negotiations are out of Buscor’s control, however the bus company has embarked on its own discussion with its workers to prevent the strike from happening.

“We are worried of the negative impact that the strike will have on the economy of the province.  Currently the economy is under a lot of stress and we fear for massive job losses and some business will be forced to close as they are barely surviving.  We are hopeful that our drivers will hear our plea and avert the strike.”  The Executive Chairperson of Buscor Ms. Nora Fakude said.

Buscor is hoping for a positive outcome from all the negotiations that are currently underway, and hope that all the affected parties will put the country first.
