Big progress on the (Lebombo) Border War
Firstly, for the past few days all the trucks were kept in an orderly single file by law enforcement. We noticed trucks being directed back in line when they tried to jump the queue.
Secondly the MEC of Safety, Security and Community Liaison honoured our request to engage by inviting us to make input at Provincial Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster next week. Unfortunately the meeting has just been postponed a few minutes ago due to unforeseen circumstances and we are awaiting a new date to be communicated this afternoon.
Meanwhile we are receiving compliments from travelers about the improved traffic management at the border.
There are still a multitude of things that need to happen and big issues to address before we are at acceptable standards, but if this effort continues, we will start regaining our business travelers and tourists from Mozambique. A big thank you for the improved efforts.
