And…Level 1 is finally here!

Mr Ramaphosa’s announcement was met with great excitement last night, but it brings really very little change to our everyday lives.  Honestly not much changed from the first adjusted Level 3 to Level 1…

What is new from today:

· All alcohol sales permitted according to licenced trading hours, except during curfew times;

· Curfew from midnight to 04h00;

· Closing time for non-essential establishments is 23h00;

· Events and conferences  restricted to 100  people indoors and 250 outdoors, but limited to 50% of the venue’s capacity, this includes funerals.

What remains the same:

· Wearing of masks remain compulsory…except when doing vigorous exercise, provided they maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres from any other person;

· Sporting activities are permitted but without spectators;

· The 20 land borders which are fully operational will remain and the 33 that are closed, will remain closed.  International air travel is restricted to OR Tambo, King Shaka, Cape Town, Lanseria and KMI Airports;

· The exclusions relating to public transport services remain in place;

· The exclusions relating to education services remain in place;

· Prohibited:  Night vigils and “after-tears” gatherings and Night Clubs.
