Add your voice and opinion to draft regulations regarding water-use licence applications

The Department of Water and Sanitation is facing a backlash after a call for public comment on the draft Regulations        regarding the Procedural Requirements for Water-Use Licence Applications.  Civil rights organisations and  political parties have taken a firm position against the regulations, challenging the requirement of up to 75% black ownership for any business seeking a water use licence.  Concern has been raised over the               implementation of this amendment as it places          emphasis on racial quotas—which might overshadow other crucial criteria in the application process.           Implementing race quotas could have adverse effects on water-dependent industries like agriculture.  Do you support or not support the draft regulations as is, or do you have a suggestion or alternative option?  Have your say by following the link on the Parliamentary   website or the link to Dear South Africa from the KLCBT        website.  Closing date is Thursday 20 July.
