About the roads…And the P166 through White River

We have received confirmation from the department of roads that the following roads that have fallen into disrepair after the floods, have been approved for repair and out on    tender (closing this week):            Hazyview to Sabie;  Lydenburg to Ohrigstad, and another 7 roads   including the Lydenburg bypass that will take the trucks out of the town.  Through the minister’s Adopt a Road programme, the road from Lydenburg to Rosenekal up to the Limpopo border will be repaired with funds from mining houses.   Other roads have been put forward for funding through the disaster fund but we are still awaiting a response from Treasury.  KLCBT will be meeting with a minister next week Monday to try and accelerate this approval.

The P166 bypass through White River has passed all appeal processes and will now definitely go through as per the alignment past Coltshill in White River.  The map is on the website.  Unless the residents can find an objection not previously introduced, and are prepared to go to the high court, this will continue.  According to public information, many of the properties on this route have been bought out and paid for already.
