Wild Capital: Unlocking Mpumalanga’s Tourism Investment Opportunities
Investment opportunities
This topic was covered by Phinda Qutywa from MTPA during our recent Tourism Conference and it inspired us to create a portfolio of investment opportunities hosted on our website. We will repost this topic whenever we receive any investment property or opportunity to share—please forward them to us for free coverage.
As government and particularly MTPA is moving in the right direction of accelerating processes, consistent communication and transparency in bid processes, Phinda made a call-to-action to move from dialogue to delivery with a clear actionable project pipeline, commit to reduce red tape and strengthen public sector responsiveness and coordination.
She placed emphasis on the underutilised state-owned assets including MTPA-owned facilities for redevelopment through a PPCP structuring as well as land parcels zoned for tourism with bulk infrastructure access. MTPA provides support mechanisms to prospective investors to address their concerns directly, facilitation with communities and coordination across government layers, access to incentives and funding partners, infrastructure alignment and support as well as destination marketing support.
Shifting from PPP to PPCP: Public Privat Community Partnerships. Models available to investors include Concessions, Lease models, Joint Ventures, Turnkey development partnerships and Management Contracts. Some of the provincial assets offering viable opportunities are The Blyde River Canyon, Mariepskop, Songimvelo, Manyeleti, Andover, Sterkspruit, Loskop Dam, Mdala and Mkhombo Dam Nature Reserves.
