The fight is on regarding Vehicle Operating Licences

Dear Members,

Our lobbying efforts against the inefficiency of the NPTR in issuing Operating Licences for tourism wheel operators reached a milestone yesterday.

SATSA, with panellists David Frost, Oupa Pilane, Onne Vegter and Khotso Micha hosted a press conference requesting that President Cyril Ramphosa and his “red tape team” urgently intervene and unblock the “bureaucratic debacle”.

Vice-Chair of the SATSA Board, Oupa Pilane, called on Government to “just do your job” and stop strangling the sector causing job losses and business closures.

Despite reaching out to the Minister of Transport, the various Ministers of Tourism, the various DG’s of Transport and the DG of Tourism, it is extremely frustrating that we have not moved forward an inch in five years.

Please see below a recording of the press conference.

We have received excellent media coverage already and hope that there will be a response from Government soonest.

Kind regards,
Hannelie du Toit
