Silverdays offers Frail Care – Old Age Home and Service Centre services in the village of Waterval Boven for senior citizens.
Our Outreach programme includes the Service Centre in the Emwenya Townships with developmental Programmes e.g. Home Based Care (working with the vunerable and HIV&Aids Orphans).
Our organisation is unique in that it was founded and is still run by the Seniors as a community based project. On 2 August 1986 “Ons Huis Service Centre” was founded. “Ons Tuiste Old Age Home” opened in 1988 with 14 beds. Another annex was opened in April 1990 to accommodate 28 frail residents, which has a 24 hour inclusive health care service. A six bed frail care ward was opened in 2005. We ensure the consecutive supply of supportive and capacity building programmes to enhance the life quality (physically, socially, physiologically and spiritually).
Ons Huis has 80 members, which render services to the elderly, enabling them to live active, independant lifestyles in their own homes for as long as possible. Essential services rendered like transport, for medical reasons, clinic and home visits. Our services and activities serve as a means to combat loneliness, undersfeeding, abuse and adjustment of worthiness to prevent and oppose the life of a pensioner.
Khya Lami Service Centre was established out of a dire need to render a service to the aged and disabled as an outreach program of Ons Huis Service Centre to uplift the poverty and to offer a preventative development in Emgwenya Townships. The high ratio of poverty and unemployment cripple the community with hopelessness. So our services are vital to continue operating.
