I was so proud of myself after I’d found the names of the first fifty diggers. And that ‘s how it all started. I thought I’d stop when I had the names of five hundred diggers. It thought the same thing when I found the names of a thousand! I then realised that i would have to stop at some point, so that I could get all the information on paper.

I have tried to document all of the people who worked on the Fields, visited the Fields and lived on the Fields. Very little information is available on the black, coloured, Indian and Chinese people on the Pilgrim’s Rest Goldfields and the names alone do not always indicate the ethnic origin of the person referred to.
