The firm PIENAAR & ERWEE was established on 1 April 1981 by Johann Erwee and Charl Pienaar in Sunnyside Pretoria. Since then we have completed many successful projects ranging from major shopping centres, office blocks and infrastructure projects. These projects addressed the needs of all levels of the community in the supply of electrical engineering services.

The head office is situated in Pretoria with branch offices in Polokwane (Pietersburg), Boksburg and Nelspruit.

As a member of the Consulting Engineers South African (CESA), we provide professional, independent advice in evaluating options, recommending action, carrying out designs and in the selection of suppliers and contractors. We also administer the execution of contracts in terms of proper specification and budgets. In doing so, we enhance the transparency of the process of administration and financial control of public works and general projects.

EMPOWERMENT POLICY AND BEE STATUS

We, at PIENAAR & ERWEE, believe that the availability of reliable, affordable electricity to the majority of the country’s population will be one of the most important driving forces in growing the economy.

In terms of the scorecard of the final version of the Construction Sector Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Charter, PIENAAR & ERWEE ENGINEERS (PTY) LTD, is classified as a BEE company.

In promoting our BEE status we will:

• Make available our expertise to communities to enable them to apply for and initiate projects, be employed in its construction and be empowered to participate in the management and administration thereof.
• Develop human resources by lecturing at local technical training institutes and technicons.
• Provide support to small contractors in project administration and management to develop and enable them to complete projects successful and profitably.
• Promote broad based black empowerment in our company in a phased manner to achieve an employee base representative of the different population groups as envisaged by the Charter. This process will be guided by:

o   A workload to sustain the changes made.

o   Availability of suitably qualified personnel.

o   Keeping people presently employed, employed for as long as possible.

o    Assist in the training of students from previous disadvantaged population groups at Tertiary Institutes by granting scholarships to deserving scholars for studies in the electrical field.

The latest technology forms the backbone of our commitment to achieve high quality technical outputs from our offices.

PIENAAR & ERWEE uses the following software packages:

• Microsoft Office Professional including Word, Excel, Excess and PowerPoint.
• Microsoft Projects for project management
• Microsoft Outlook for general time management
• Inspire Interface Retic Master for infrastructure design
• Bentley Micro-station V8 XM Edition for CAD

The software runs on Windows XP Professional and output to a HP Design-jet 500 A0 plotter, a HP 1220C

A3+ printer and a number of A4 laser and inkjet printers.

FEE SCALES APPLICABLE

We use the professional fees structure for the Electrical Engineering Services based on Guideline Scope of Services and Tariff of Fees for Persons Registered in terms of the Engineering Profession Act, 2000, (Act No.46 of 2000) as amended and published in the Government Gazette
