The organisation is a registered Non Profit Company (previously Section 21), registration number 1998/025398/08

For the purpose of a more focused approach in performing our mandates, our organisation has two legs:

  • Kruger Lowveld Business

For general business in the Mbombela Local District as well as affiliated chambers from within the Ehlanzeni District.

  • Kruger Lowveld Tourism

For tourism related businesses across the entire Ehlanzeni District

Also the recognised Regional Tourism Organisation for the District

Has 13 Local Tourism Organisations under its umbrella

All these LTO’s as well as the Kruger National Park and surrounding

private reserves are represented in the Committee

Also the destination marketing organisation for the Kruger Lowveld

(Ehlanzeni District, Kruger Park & surrounding reserves)

How to become involved in the leadership of KLCBT

The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) urges its members and other interested parties to become involved in the leadership of the organisation and will be holding elections for committee, board and tourism committee members in April.

The details of each category, how and when voting will take place and other relevant information is contained in each section below.

Nominations for Committee Members of the Business Section of KLCBT

Committee member elections will take place at the KLCBT’s Annual General Meeting in April 2023, when members of the KLCBT’s business section will elect 10 members to serve on the committee for a two-year term.

Business owners and chief executive officers (CEOs) or retired business owners and CEOs who are knowledgeable and well-connected are the ideal candidates. Apart from being a member of the KLCBT, there are no sponsorship or funding obligations.

Members of the committee attend one two-hour meeting a month. If they volunteer for a certain sub-committee or task team they may have to attend ad hoc meetings as and when required.

Once the committee is elected it will elect a chairperson and two vice chairpersons, who automatically become board members. It is not compulsory to avail yourself to be elected in any of these capacities.

Committee election day:

A list of names will be provided for each of the 10 industry categories and KLCBT members will vote for one candidate in each category. The candidate with the highest number of votes in a category will become one of the 10 committee members.

  • Legal
  • Professional & Educational
  • Property & Property Development
  • Wholesale & Retail
  • Civil Sector & Non-governmental organisations
  • Mining & Manufacturing
  • Services (all)
  • Agriculture & Food Processing

Nominations to serve as a Committee Member of the Tourism Section (Kruger Lowveld Tourism) of KLCBT

All local tourism organisations (LTOs) affiliated to Kruger Lowveld Tourism are invited to nominate one person and an alternative person to represent their area/town on the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism’s (KLCBT) Tourism Management Committee for the next two-year term.

The current affiliated LTOs are:

  • Nelspruit
  • White River
  • Pilgrim’s Rest
  • Lydenburg
  • Graskop
  • Sabie
  • Hazyview
  • Barberton
  • Nkomazi
  • Komatipoort
  • Bushbuckridge
  • Low’s Creek
  • Kruger National Park
  • Private Reserves

** Members of the KLCBT owning or managing tourism-related establishments in Nelspruit/ White River are invited to nominate themselves or someone else to serve as a management committee member. Elections for the representative and alternative person who will represent Nelspruit/White River on the Tourism Management Committee for the next two years will take place at the KLCBT’s Annual General Meeting in April 2025, when tourism members from Nelspruit/White River will be asked to vote for their chosen candidate(s).

Once the committee is confirmed it will elect a chairperson and two vice chairpersons who will automatically become board members. It is not compulsory to avail yourself to be elected in any of these capacities.

Nominations to serve on the board of KLCBT

Elections for board members will take place at the end of July 2018, when the management committees select seven members to represent tourism and seven members to represent general business, for a two-year term.

Business owners and chief executive officers (CEOs) or retired business owners and CEOs who are knowledgeable and well-connected are ideal candidates to serve on the board. Apart from being a member of the KLCBT, there are no sponsorship or funding obligations.

Members of the board will attend one two-hour meeting, every three months. If they volunteer for a certain sub-committee or task team, they may have to attend ad hoc meetings as and when required.

Once the board is elected it will elect a president who will serve in this capacity for two years. It is not compulsory to avail yourself to be elected as the president.

The board will be made up as follows:

  • The immediate past president.
  • The chairperson and two vice-chairpersons of the KLCBT Business Management Committee.
  • The chairperson and two vice-chairpersons of the KLCBT Tourism Management Committee (Kruger Lowveld Tourism).
  • Four non-executive board members, chosen by the Business Management Committee.
  • Four non-executive board members, chosen by the Tourism Management Committee.
