National State of Disaster ‘Ends’
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced last night that the State of Disaster would be lifted from midnight, however a number of restrictions will continue for 30 days before the government consults other legislation to guide its response to the pandemic:
Masks mandatory only for indoor public spaces;
Gatherings without restriction allowed 1000 indoors and 2000 outdoors
Gatherings larger than that allowed up to 50% of capacity of venue, provided that all are either vaccinated or provide a negative PCR test result not older than 72 hours;
Travellers to SA also can enter with proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test or will be required to have an antigen test and undergo 10 days of isolation if they test positive;
Small land borders remain closed.
All other restrictions are lifted.
All health protocols remain in place.
Social grants of R350 remains payable.
