N4 Road users advised to plan ahead for Easter

As South Africans and Mozambicans prepare to travel over the school    holidays and the Easter period, TRAC is urging N4 users to plan their    journeys in advance and allow for possible delays along the route.

Several upgrade and rehabilitation projects are currently underway along the N4 as part of TRAC’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and reliable corridor.  While construction activities will pause from 1 April to 7 April 2026, all road construction zones will remain active and traffic-control measures will stay in place in line with road safety requirements.

Motorists may still encounter traffic accommodation in certain areas, so please plan ahead and allow additional travel time where necessary. Here are the affected areas:

Soloman Mahlangu Drive—Bronkhorstspruit N4: Shoulder and lane closure

Van Dijksdrift IC—Wonderfontein—Shoulder and lane closures

Schoemanskloof N4—Shoulder and lane closures with Stop & Go in place

Montrose—Alkmaar N4—Shoulder and lane closures

TRAC are also advising motorists to plan extra travelling time during peak periods, or to opt for alternative times.  Peak period forecast:

Thursday 2 April from 09h00 to 18h00, Friday 3 April from 06h00 to 09h00, Saturday 4 April from 06h00 to 09h00, Monday 6 April from 06h00 to 15h00 and Tuesday 7 April from 06h00 to 15h00.

An additional peak for Lebombo Border is expected on Tuesday 7 Apr from 15h00 to 18h00.  Please observe all the rules and signs—Arrive Alive!
