Major Facelift planned for Moz’s Ressano Border

The Mozambican government has approved a Public-Private Partnership to upgrade and operate the Ressano Garcia Border post’s international road freight terminal, the country’s main commercial gateway to South Africa.

This agreement was signed extending the KM4 concession with GTSA, the company responsible for operating the cargo terminal and border control facilities at Ressano Garcia.  The 10-year extension includes:

Expansion of entry and exit roads to three lanes

A new exit to improve truck flow and traffic efficiency

Automation and digitalisation of control processes

Construction of a new terminal exit connecting to the N4

Four new fast-track lanes to speed up transit cargo

Construction of a new tourist border post

Residential complex to accommodate 150 public servants

With ongoing investments in the expansion of the Port of Maputo, the    modernisation of the N4, and new border infrastructure, total investment across the corridor is approaching US$2.2 billion.
