Kruger Lowveld Welcome: Pilot training session a success

The pilot of “Kruger Lowveld Welcome”, an introductory tourism customer care training programme, was held at Southern Sun Emnotweni Hotel on Monday 29 May.

The programme was designed and presented by Samantha Bouwer of Tshwane University of Technology’s Tourism Department, to 21 people in management and front office positions from numerous tourism businesses from the Kruger Lowveld region.

Participants were asked to evaluate the programme and make suggestions on how it can be improved, before roll out to front line staff throughout the region.

Topics covered during the day long programme included:

  • Introduction to Customer Service in Tourism
  • Know your Kruger Lowveld region
  • Effective communication
  • Welcoming international visitors
  • Welcoming disabled customers
  • Dealing with complaints and dissatisfaction
