Kruger Lowveld Tourism concludes stakeholder engagements for Tourism Month
Kruger Lowveld Tourism hosted a series of stakeholder engagements over the month of September and the purpose of these was to hear firsthand what challenges the industry and communities face when it comes to our tourism landscape and to collectively seek solutions.
It was clear that irrespective of the town, all participants had a common goal, which is to change the trajectory of the tourism industry. As an RTO (Regional Tourism Organisation), we are mandated to take these concerns and possible interventions to our provincial tourism authorities through the Tourism Think Tank.
It is clear that the strategy for the province needs to be intentional, inclusive and backed by political will. We have a plethora of offerings that are under developed and under utilized as a tool to increase bed nights and visitor spend.
Participants in all the towns visited committed to driving the tourism agenda, and hand in hand we shall strive to create a more sustainable and inclusive tourism landscape. The full report is on our website.
Feedback from Mpumalanga Tourism Expo
The 5th Mpumalanga Tourism Expo held at Riverside Mall over the past weekend, saw an array of tourism products from across Southern Africa exhibiting.
A total of 77 exhibitors engaged with visitors to the expo over three days and also had the opportunity to network and forge partnerships with one another. On the first day of the expo Kruger Lowveld attended a talk with an industry stalwart, who gave an informative talk on how to turn exhibitions in bookings and also participated in a speed networking session. Kruger Lowveld Tourism had the opportunity to engage with several invited media houses and twenty hosted buyers from Gauteng, the Western Cape and Limpopo, to name a few.
Kruger Lowveld Tourism was also honoured to receive a certificate of appreciation for the support provided to the organisers over the years.
