Located some 35km on the R532 from Graskop, the Bourke’s Luck Potholes are named after a gold prospector, Tom Bourk. The confluence of the Treur River (River of Sorrow) and the Blyde River (River of Joy) at the start of the Blyde River Canyon creates a powerful swirling action which caused stones and sand to erode the bedrock to create large cylindrical potholes over for years. A series of overhanging pedestrian bridges weave their way around the dark pools making this a unique and natural water feature more impressive. There are bathroom facilities and refreshments are sold onsite.
Open daily. A nominal entrance fee is payable.
