We, as TATA & DAEWOO International Lowveld, based in Rocky Drift Nelspruit, are a division of TATA Automobile Corporation (SA) (Pty) Ltd, TATA International commenced distribution operations in Africa in 1977 and has since evolved as a leading distributor of TATA Commercial vehicles on the continent, with operations in more than 11 countries. TATA International, through its subsidiary TATA Africa Holdings, has served as the flag bearer of the TATA group in the African continent with a specific mandate to explore, identify, curate and promote development opportunities and business projects for the Indian group on the African continent. Created in 1994, the Johannesburg office of TATA Africa Holdings serves as the official headquarters for TATA operations in Africa. But even though it was created in the 90s, TATA has a long history of doing business on the continent.

TATA Automobile Corporation (SA) (Pty) Ltd; (TACSA), is responsible for the sales and after-sales service of TATA Trucks and Buses in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, and Swaziland through a network of 50 touch points.  These vehicles are built on the basis of customer requirements with class leading features, reliability, comfort and safety, all at an affordable price. By offering lower life cycle costs, this adds up to offer operators power, speed, carrying capacity and operating economy. TACSA is a one-stop shop for all your commercial vehicle requirements. Our newly formed used division, “Trucks Assured”, assists clients with trade-ins.  There are more than 25000 TATA trucks and buses on South African roads.

Since our modest start in South Africa with just a handful of models back in 1997, TATA has grown and evolved to offer a vehicle solution for every customer’s needs. Not even the 2008 global recession could slow us down, as we reengineered our products and introduced the EX2 range. By 2018, we expanded to rank amongst the leading original equipment manufacturers in the South African market.

During the recession, we designed new generation platforms and introduced the Prima and Ultra. At the same time we also had the opportunity to begin manufacturing locally, so we opened our plant in Rosslyn, Pretoria, showing our commitment to the local market. Now, the Ultra is a favourite in South Africa, delivering on its four pillars of style, comfort, safety and performance – all while delivering the ultimate goal of low cost ownership.

We now boast over 90 touch points across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland. And to make owning a TATA even easier, long-haul trucks can be serviced at our sister companies across border as well.

After 21 years, we understand the South African market as well as the markets in neighbouring countries and we’re ready to take on any challenge.
