Beware of Smishing Scam doing its rounds
Banks have issued a warning that another smishing scam is doing the rounds. What is Smishing? A fraudster sends you an SMS pretending to be a legitimate organization (like your bank) and tricks you into clicking on a link to share sensitive information which is used to access your digital banking profile to commit fraud. It can also be done by a phone call or e-mail to notify you that fraud has been detected on your credit card or bank account and you need to click here to cancel the transaction or something to that effect. Sometimes they would send a SMS to say a device has been added successfully on your profile, if this was NOT you, please visit….and then you click on a link that will take you to a legitimate looking form where your info is captured.
