Sunday, 24 March 2019: The improvement in plant performance, together with replenished diesel and water reserves over the last few days, as well as the increase of imports from Mozambique’s Cahora Bassa to 850MW, has positively shifted system performance.

The risk of loadshedding remains, as the system continues to be vulnerable. Loadshedding will only be implemented when absolutely necessary.

Eskom will provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all the media platforms.

We continue to appeal to customers to continue to use electricity sparingly by switching off geysers and non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.

We thank all South Africans for their patience and cooperation throughout this difficult period.
